Conditional Use Permit

Purpose

The purpose of the Conditional Use Permit is to provide the city with a procedure for determining the appropriateness of certain uses on a case-by-case basis because one or more characteristics of that use may not be acceptable in some locations.

Generally speaking, the appropriateness of the use is determined by comparing it to the surrounding uses, and to the conditions of the site and the surrounding areas. The use must also be compatible with the goals of the Comprehensive Plan.

Based upon this determination, the city may decide to permit, reject or permit with conditions the use for which the Conditional Use Permit is sought.
