Text Amendment

Zoning Text Amendment

In the day-to-day use of the Zoning Code, it occasionally becomes evident that some regulations are not easy to understand and/or impose restrictions and conditions that are not reasonable, either from the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan or applicability of the conditions to the city. Where these problems become chronic in nature, the Planning Commission and City Council have an obligation to consider amendments to the Code that should correct the problems.

This process is regulated by Section 26-113, Zoning Changes and Amendments, of the Zoning Code and must follow specific procedures and guidelines. Most importantly, the proposed changes must further the goals of the Comprehensive Plan and all potential applicants should be familiar with that document before proceeding.

As with all applications, it is strongly recommended that any proposal be submitted in consultation with the Planning Division staff.
