Tappmeyer Homestead: Pearl Harbor Child

Sunday, August 14, 2022

Dorinda Makanaonalani Nicholson was 6 years old and living in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. She and her parents fled to nearby sugar cane fields and witnessed the bombing. When the American Girl doll Nanea was created, Dorinda served as a consultant in her development. Her personal experiences have been the basis for her books about the history and culture of Hawaii and how the attack affected civilians.

Dorinda has since settled in Missouri and will share her thoughts during a virtual talk and Q&A at the Tappmeyer Homestead at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, at the Tappmeyer Homestead in Millennium Park, 2 Barnes West Drive. This program is free but registration is necessary. Email to secure your seat.
